The two years are not the point

The degree ends. The habits do not.\n\nThe students who compound are the ones who learned to read something difficult every week, to write a page that someone else can act on, and to sit in a room where they are the least informed person without going quiet.\n\nNone of that appears on a transcript. All of it appears in the third year of a career.
